Our mission
Homelessness is an increasing asocial problem. It is possibly the most visible sign of socio-economic inequality. On any given night in the United States, about half a million people become homeless. About a third of them (just under 200,000) are discovered sleeping unprotected on our streets in locations that aren't meant for human habitation, such as sidewalks, parks, automobiles, and abandoned buildings. Meanwhile, emergency shelters and transitional housing programs house nearly 350,000 sheltered homeless persons. People who are homeless are virtually often in severe situations and face tremendous suffering. They are forced to make decisions from a small set of possibilities, frequently under pressure, with drug addiction problems, untreated mental illness, or unforeseen effects from well-intentioned legislation. According to Homelessness Statistics by State, the most alarming situation is in New York City. It is the highest level since the Great Depression in the 1930s. In New York, there are a total of 92,091 homeless people in 2022. Whereas, there are 8,862 homeless people in New Jersey in 2022. The individuals who are homeless include men, women, and kids. According to the National Law Center on Homeless & Poverty over 70% of homeless persons are young adults below the age of 50. Furthermore, one of the major reasons for Homeless in the United States is due to the unavailability of affordable housing options. Despite working some people are unable to afford to house. Homelessness is more than simply a lack of a place to sleep. Unsheltered people lack the resources to get the essential human necessities of warmth, health, safety, and hygiene. In addition to homelessness people often lack many other things, such as healthy foods, jobs, and clean clothes. The individuals who are experiencing homelessness have to face an uphill battle to regain the necessities they need to survive. Homelessness is one of the most serious problems that people might encounter in their lives, leaving them subject to diseases, abuse, emotional trauma, and criminality. However, this isn't simply a personal problem. Our financial, social, and health systems may all be severely impacted by homelessness. Individuals who are suffering from homelessness in the United States experience significant barriers to self-care and personal hygiene, which include limited access to facilities like showers, laundry, and hand washing. Moreover, many NGOs are working to provide shelters to homeless people but no such organization is working for providing them with basic essential items. Even the government is working to provide housing first initiative which only provides housing to them but did not cater to their basic needs. In addition, the hierarchy of needs also talks about the physiological needs first. Such as food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter. These are the bare necessities for anyone’s survival. Therefore, we have initiated a program to give homeless individuals a supply of care packages that will have essential items and foods along with some clothing items. However, by providing this support to the individuals we will help them to focus on other think as some of their financial burdens will ease off. In addition, when they will maintain proper hygiene will else likely to get ill and can maintain a healthy lifestyle too.
This program aims to build a society where all individuals experiencing homelessness are provided with a care package that has items of eight essential items. Along with these essential items every package also includes a T-shirt, sweater, blanket, a pack of underwear, a pack of socks, and Food.
